INTRODUCTION

The objective of the meeting is to give an update on the laboratory diagnosis of Lyme borreliosis in a Northern European context and to use the kowledge base of the participants in order to discuss guidelines, update/revise diagnostic criteria for different conditions and to propose useful, evidence based diagnostic strategies.

We encourage participants to submit abstracts with focus on diagnostic methods for consideration for oral or poster presentations. We know, for instance, that many kit evaluations for borrelia serology have been performed in Scandinavian laboratories recently and some of these have not been published. This meeting provides a good opportunity to present such results.

Presentations on other diagnostic methods like PCR, culture, immunological markers etc. are also of interest. Furthermore we are interested in presentations on critical approach to the selection of patient materials, the calibration of cut-off values and statistical methods used in kit comparisons is encouraged.

Consider this meeting as a forum for discussion and development of ideas. Thus, preliminary results are also welcome. Posters or oral presentations, which have been presented previously at other meetings (e.g. Lyme 08, Irvine, California) can be re-used in this forum. The Programme Committee will evaluate the submitted abstracts and prioritize between poster presentations and short oral presentations.
