| Microbial diversity and metagenomics: science, technology, applications & regulatory affairs. The field of metagenomics addresses the exploration of microbial diversity at the molecular level. Applications of metagenomics range from agriculture, energy and the environment to human health, biotechnology and the deeper understanding of the biosphere. This EMBO Workshop will bring together scientists from different fields working on metagenomics, in order to discuss both the recent scientific and technological achievements in the field as well as aspects of policy on the recording and protection of microbial natural wealth and its proper exploitation for applications. Nine sessions will explore the science, technology, applications and regulatory affairs in the field of microbial metagenomics. These correspond to twenty one plenary lectures by prominent researchers in the field, two tutorials on the computational analysis of metagenomics information, and a poster session open to all accepted participants. | ||
