Presentation
The idea of creating a network for the Nordic biosafety community was initiated at a symposium on Biosafety at the Swedish Institute for Infectious Disease Control (SMI) in September 2004. One year later, in October 2005, the very first meeting of the Nordic Biosafety Network was held in Södertälje, Sweden, hosted by AstraZeneca.

Today, the Nordic Biosafety Network convenes annually for 1-2 days in any of the Nordic countries, organised by a local committee. Meeting participation is always free of charge, while participants finance travel expenses accommodation and meals.

Topics related to applied laboratory biological biosafety and biosecurity are presented and discussed and every meeting has its own unique features depending on the specialised expertise and interest of the local organisers.

The Nordic biosafety Network is an expanding community with members from national authorities and institutes, public health, academia and industry.
